The Accountant II maintains the accounting records of the organization.
This requires the application of well-established accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices.
This individual ensures that all external and internal financial reports are submitted in a timely manner and meets all regulatory and internal reporting deadlines.
In addition, this individual is responsible for ensuring that all account reconciliations and bank reconciliations are performed and any open items are resolved on a timely basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all financial and personal information related to individuals, the finance department of the organization.
Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, verifying all the balances are accurate.
Perform account and balance sheet analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and follow-up to resolve open items.
Establish closing routines to meet desired timeframes and objectives.
This includes ensuring that all accounts are properly supported and are reconciled on a timely basis.
Checking each account for accuracy.
Support Director of Finance with the preparation and submission of all external and internal financial reports in a timely manner and meeting all regulatory and internal reporting deadlines.
Maintain the fixed asset sub ledger and ensure fixed assets are appropriately entered into system, using appropriate useful lives and evaluating propriety of capital vs.
expense treatment (applying corporate policy for treatment of assets).
Perform reconciliation of fixed asset sub ledger to general ledger.
Assist in identifying variances and explain changes in balance sheet and P&L accounts.
Prepare various analyses as required along with research and resolving on an independent basis various problems/queries etc which arise in day-to-day operations.
Analyzes records of past and present operations, trends, and costs, estimated & realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred to project future revenues & expenses.
Proficiency working with ERP system Business Central, Jet reporting.
Constant improvement to increase efficiency in the month-end process and other business processes.
Maintain knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchase order, and budget experience.
Provides backup support as needed.
Contributes to overall effectiveness of the organization and department by completing all other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in meeting competencies required for position; able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires BS in Business Administration or Accounting with 5-7 years of general accounting experience.
CPA &/or MBA is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Communicates effectively with groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables simultaneously.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time and to work extensively with computers.
