Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general direction of the School of Nursing's (SON) Sr.
Accountant with latitude for independent judgment and use of accounting knowledge will be responsible for the financial accuracy and integrity of all accounting transactions as they pertain to non-salary expenditures associated with SON's core operating and endowment accounts.
This includes the review, approval and/or processing of incoming orders/requests for non-salary and salary related expenditures along with the reconciliation and budget development & management of the financial transactions.
Liaison with purchasing, finance, payroll and other departments as necessary.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the Sr.
Accountant & Director of Finance, SON, develop annual budgets using the on-line budgeting system incorporating assumptions formalized by our strategic plan initiatives and budget meetings.
Document detailed budget justifications and rationale for budget calculations.
Prepare budgets in conjunction with appropriate personnel as needed.
Prepare quarterly year end projections comparing results to established budgets including a comprehensive narrative describing the variances.
Anticipates potential problems and make recommendations on corrective actions.
Analyze and review monthly ledger accounts in order to confirm the completeness and accuracy of data; use judgment as to whether account balances are reasonable.
Ascertain that transactions are properly supported in accordance with University policy and procedure.
When necessary, initiate corrective actions, such as journal entries.
Prepare routine and non-routine reports including cost analyses.
Working in collaborations with the SON finance & accounting team, review and implement new University and SON policies relating to purchasing, payroll, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Coordinate the creation and maintenance of annual student fee schedule.
This includes collecting expenses relating to various student fees, costing expenses out to specific course, and working with SON Financial Analyst and Education Administrator in monitoring and budgeting student fee revenues.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
1 year of professional accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent analytical, organizational, communication skills and attention to detail required.
Position requires applicant to have strong Microsoft Office skills.
The applicant needs to have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment within tight deadlines.
Preferred:
Knowledge of moderate to advanced excel formulas and concepts (vlookups, sumifs, and pivot tables)
CLASP certification - either upon hire or obtained within first 2 years of employment

Pay Range
Pay Range: $ 22.
02 - $ 30.
82 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.
Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined byconsidering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
