JOB SUMMARY: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing time, labor and payroll data using Adaptec Solutions processes and procedures ensuring on-time, accurate employee paychecks.
The Payroll Specialist must be detail oriented and possess great communication skills to interact with colleagues and executives.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Process multi-state payroll, which includes analyzing and auditing payroll data for accuracy, processing wages, deductions, and reimbursements consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
Calculate the correct amount incorporating overtime, shift differentials, deductions, bonuses etc.
Maintain and review payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of all payroll related transactions including salary changes, transfers, status changes, etc.
Prepare monthly payroll entry in collaboration with other members of the accounting team.
Receive approval from upper management for payments when needed.
Keep track of hour rates, wages, compensation benefit rates and new hire information.
Keep track of SUI and SITW payments and ensure the correct registration of Adaptec Solutions into new States when necessary.
Provide support to the Finance & Accounting team when necessary for Month-End, Quarter end and Year End.
Address payroll issues and questions from employees and managers.
Prepare reports for management and finance department.
Other accounting activities and projects as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate degree in business, accounting or a related discipline preferred.
Minimum of two years of full-time payroll processing experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Paylocity experience, preferred.
SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB: Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
Comprehensive knowledge of Certified Payroll.
Experience in researching changes to payroll related laws and interpreting how they affect the business.
Proficient in MS Office.
Previous experience using electronic payroll processing software, preferably Paylocity.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll information.
Attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is $22-$25 an hour.
The hourly rate range provided is a general guideline.
