BRO on this suite!!! 1950's era, sleek lines, light finish dining room set-professionally refinished and re-upholstered.
Set consists of: China cabinet, credenza, dining table and one leaf, and six chairs (2 with side arms and 4 with no arms).
This set was considered very modern for the time and still appeals because of the lines and simplicity.
It is light-toned (blond), solid wood construction.
Both the China cabinet and the credenza sit on a solid base with slightly curved fronts.
The table has straight legs that taper and turn ever so slightly to the outside.
There is center support w/ 2 vertical and 1 horizontal member.
China cabinet: this is not a large unit, but comfortably held the dishes and display items of 1950's homes.
It is one piece with a 2-door cabinet (with bronze curved pulls) and a display case with sliding glass (not hinged doors).
The cabinet is deeper than the display area, leaving some exposed wood in front of the glass doors.
Measurements; approximate: greatest height (floor to top of unit)-62 1/4"; greatest width 371/4 (side to side of the cabinet)"; greatest depth 16" (front of cabinet to the rear).
The cabinet measurements are: height-22 1/2", sitting on a 3" base.
Base + cabinet height is 25 1/2"; width-37 1/4"; depth-16" The display measurements are: height-36 1/2" + 1/2" top; width-36 1/2"; depth-13 1/2" The 2 cabinet doors measure: width-18 1/4"; length-21" The sliding glass doors measure: width-18"; length-32 1/4"; thickness-1/4" Credenza: quite long with plenty of surface space.
On the right and left side there is a drawer (with knob pull) and a cabinet with hinged door and pulls similar to the China cabinet.
In the center are 3 drawers with the top drawer slightly longer than the other 2 drawers.
The top drawer has no pull, but the other 2 have a center pull similar to the China cabinet.
Measurements: maximums-height-32 1/4"; width-20"' length-60".
Drawers and doors (right and left sides of the unit).
Drawers: width 14 1/2"; height-6 1/2"; doors: width-14 1/2"; height 21 1/2".
Center drawers (3).
Top drawer-width 31"; height-6 1/2".
Middle drawer-width 29"; height-10 1/4".
Bottom drawer-width-29"; height-12" Table and chairs: the unique feature of the table is its shape.
Neither square nor rectangular (no round), the table is gently curved (rounded) at both ends, so that the side lengths are approximately 6 1/2" shorter than the center length.
The legs are straight and uncomplicated.
The center support has visual shape appeal.
There are six chairs-2 w/arms; 4 w/o arms.
The backs are solid wood and curved.
A secondary thinner stretcher connects both sides of the back.
The seats are upholstered and have a curved back that continues outwards along the sides before ending in a straight front that is the widest part of the seat.
The chair legs are solid wood with no intricate turnings and carvings.
The rear legs are closer to each other than the front legs are because the rear seat is shorter than the front seat.
The rear legs curve backwards and outwards below the seat.
The front legs taper and turn slightly to the side.
(It is really and interesting design.
) The upholstery is new in a rust and ivory cord material.
Measurements: height-30"; width-42"; length-55 1/2" at side edges and 62" at center.
Top: 1" thick; apron is 3" long; .
Legs are 26" long.
Leaf is 12" wide.
