THE 2024 HB 1L/2L DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP Established in 2007, our HB 1L/2L Diversity Scholarship includes a $10,000 tuition award to be remitted directly to the recipient’s law school for the next year, and a paid HB summer associate position.
This scholarship is awarded annually to two 1L and/or 2L full-time law students, who have a strong commitment to practice law in New York State.
Applicants may not be the recipient of a similar award from another law firm.
Opportunities for a summer associate position in 2024 are available in the offices listed below in the Salary section.
WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DUE & WHEN ARE RECIPIENTS SELECTED? The HB 1L/2L Diversity Scholarship applications are open for submission on a rolling basis from November 1, 2023 through March 1, 2024.
The firm’s hiring committee will review all application packages and interview scholarship finalists after the application period closes.
Scholarship recipients will be selected on or before March 29, 2024.
REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS TO INCLUDE ELECTRONICALLY WITH SUBMISSION: • Cover Letter – include office preference from list below in the Salary section.
• Current Resume • Writing Sample • Official Law School Transcript - 1L applicants can submit first semester grades in January.

SALARY INFORMATION: NYC Summer Associates: $2,400 weekly Uniondale Summer Associates: $2,200 weekly Albany, Rochester, Syracuse Summer Associates: $2,075 weekly The firm’s policy prohibiting unlawful discrimination applies to all aspects of employment, including hiring, placement, assignment of duties, training, promotion, compensation & benefits and termination.
